The Grump and the lipstick lesbians- Days 1-3:Stuck in the habits

Right, 3 days into the second week at the offices. It's all got a bit samey. Great, fun sameyness, but sameyness all the... same... Erm.

Anyways, I realised a couple of things over the last three days that amused me. Number one- no matter how much the trains try to do the right thing, they never will. Especially the Tube. They stopped anyone getting to the platforms this morning at Kings Cross to 'stop overcrowding'. Which resulted in around 2000 people stood shoulder to shoulder, elbow to ribcage, and (in one poor dainty lady's case) man mountain armpit to left eyebrow, crammed into the completely unsuitable 'New ticket hall'. Way to go. Eased crowding my arse.

Lesson number two- London smells more when it gets warm. I don't know quite how, but Kentish Town reminds me of the famed Ankh-Morpork. I know, Sir Terry probably got the idea (albeit amplifying it) from London and such cities, that the river Ankh would create so fiercesome a pong-city. But still, it never ceases to amaze me, the odd wiffs and quite honestly daze-inducing wafts that barrel along those random streets.

Realisation three- if you need a carpet, a rug, or any Arab upholstery or floor-throws, go to Highgate Road. For every three shops on that road, two sell carpets. All with names like Sallah Nem Carpets, Taj Utan Carpets etc. So they're obviously legit. I counted no fewer than fifteen carpet/ rug shops. Kentish Town, Highgate Road, carpet capital. Who knows why?

Lastly, not much to report on from the offices. I'm getting a writing credit in the actual magazine that's released on Saturday (woot) and spent most of today converting a sex survey of turn ons and turn offs into a jokey feature. Turns out, gay men aren't into lots of pain, but also aren't into tickling. Meanwhile, an alarming amount of them like farmers...
